The Proud Brothers – 04-01-21 The Bigger the Lie How can The Blues Brothers turn into The Proud Brothers? That is simple enough. Take a big country and turn it into a madhouse. Divide the people by questioning every truth and replace them with lies. Put Mein Kampf’s lessons into practise: a) The bigger the lie, the more people tend to believe it and b) the power of repetition. It will create a nation of proud people and proud boys. Surely these times call for The Blues Brothers! The Movie Of course I liked the movie right from the start and I guess all of us did. Besides the music and dreamcast it creates a wonderful atmosphere in which everything seems to flow naturally. Whether it is a rublbe pile of crashed cars or a wall of sorry lies and lucky mishaps behind which the brothers tend to get away with it all, it is all eye and ear candy. Black and White With Trump’s rethorics in mind, backed by a silent 50% of the population and counterpartered by movements such as Black Lives Matter, one thing struck me as striking indeed. In the movie there is equality between black and white. In fact, there are no real referrals to the difference of skin colors. Instead, it is only the music that counts. Radical elements like Illinous Nazi’s are just rammed off the road. Can we return to this America and enter the Soul Food Café (as long as they don’t serve chitlins)? Perhaps a foolish dream but I am not the only one. See my other art statement on this topic here.
