Why collect original art? Choosing to buy an original painting for your art collection means that you’re directly supporting a working artist and their career. You also get to own one-of-a-kind art, which comes with its own unique backstory. When purchasing art, select an original piece that inspires you to add an emotional connection to the piece, giving it sentimental value. Decorate your home with original artwork to add a sense of personality to the space — not to mention original art makes for great conversation pieces.

Canadian Artist Patricia Mansell
Patricia Mansell is a Canadian acrylic artist who has a passion for painting endangered North American wildlife. Her style is realism and her work is based on her wildlife photography.
Patricia shares what inspires her wildlife paintings: “I am a professional artist working in acrylics. Painting wildlife and nature is my passion. I learn about the struggles faced by each animal that I paint, the stresses on nature that affect it and the impact upon its habitat. I paint many endangered animals, hoping that bringing them to life in my art will raise awareness of how close we are to losing many of them.”
American Artist Anne B. Schwartz
Anne B. Schwartz is an American artist who works with oil paints to create abstract expressive paintings in an array of colours. She uses brushes and a palette knife to create thick layers of oil paint. Her previous work as a jewellery designer has inspired her use of color in her paintings.
Her Crystal Aura series of paintings is described as “opalescent mixed media paintings created with countless layers of acrylic saturated with mica, interference pigment, and natural minerals that glisten like geodes, and bounce light across their auric topographies.”
Canadian Artist Bob Arrigo
Bob Arrigo is a Canadian artist whose work is inspired by the Canadian Group of Seven. His work includes impressionist landscape paintings as well as abstract pieces. His paintings express his evolution as an artist and he’s gone on to write two books about his experiences.
Bob shares his view on what it means to create art: “The purpose of my art is to express the discovery, the beauty and totality of my creative statement to the world, and to see it merge into the fabric of our culture as it reveals the expression of God’s gift to me.”
English Artist John Popkess
John Popkess is an English artist who spent much of his early life in remote parts of Africa. His work is inspired by seeing things in their natural state and painting them just as they are. His oil paintings depict moments of life captured in beautiful detail.
John shares his goals when he creates a work of art: “My aim is to strip away the veneer of a subject and to capture a moment, not a dramatic one, something evocative perhaps, occasionally ordinary but always honest and without the need for a narrative. Art is nothing, if it does not speak…”
