Victoria Sager

Born in Los Angeles, California, I lived in France, London, Morocco, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and New York, before choosing the state of New Hampshire as my home.

My exposure to international culture affects my stance towards creating artwork. For each new piece, I consider how my chosen medium of oils can enhance the message of my art. I meld Impressionism's quick brush strokes with Expressionism's focus on using colors to communicate emotions. 

My art aims to highlight what I believe should be valued in today's selfie-driven society: empathy for individuals, nature, and the human form. I aim to capture not necessarily what something looks like, but what something feels like. I intend for my paintings to inspire appreciation for the feeling of a person, nature, or the human form.

Van Gogh and Rothko are my biggest influences. I am also inspired by Surrealism's commitment to finding beauty among accidental and unexpected juxtapositions.
