Artist Statement:
I'm greatly inspired by the natural world around me, light, shape and line, texture and colour. I love to work in the abstract, to pull out and make visible those aspects of every day life that make me stop and look, listen or touch.
I love to focus on small details, like how paint wears on wood, or how metal chips and cracks and reveals other colours beneath its surface, even rust, or old plaster walls will interest me because of their texture. With the stroke of a brush or scrape of a knife an artist can give life to new ways of seeing things, allowing the viewer to experience the artist's inner life, and perhaps even experience the inspiration that drives one to commit something to canvas.
For many years I painted landscapes and only dabbled in the abstract, but the further I get on this journey of creating art, the further away I get from landscapes, and the closer I get to being only an abstract artist.

Education:
Eighteen years of experimentation, trial and error, passion and perseverance has led me to develop certain skills and a unique painting style. As a Fashion Design major in college I studied colour, fabrics, and life drawing. I was required to capture my designs on paper as well as construct design boards to showcase my ideas, leading me to experiment with different mediums including ink, pastels, collage and acrylics.
Exhibitions:
I held a ten year residency in a local cafe/gallery between 2009 and 2019. I have also participated in numerous art walks, art fairs, and artisan markets, and have had many solo and group show exhibitions showcasing my abstract and landscape work.
