If you’re a lover of décor or – at the very least – addicted to Pinterest, then there’s a good chance you’re familiar with a hot design trend taking interiors by storm. Two words: Scandinavian style.

I’ve come to eloquently refer to it as: My favorite 50 shades of grey, black and white. While it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, taking a style cue from Scandinavian home owners has been one of the best thing to happen all year. Sure color can be fun, but nothing says chic like monochromatic. Now I know what you’re thinking: monochromatic interiors can be cold, muted or even boring, but with the incorporation of patterns, textiles, and beautiful artwork, you’re left with a look that is very sophisticated!

So, now that we’re all in agreement and I have you second guessing every design idea or decision you’ve made thus far, here’s the good news: integrating slices of black, white and monochromatic detail into your current décor is easy. The key is to start small; something non-committal, eye-catching, and budget friendly. Start with art! From the abstract to the picturesque, there’s something for everyone.
